My Beautiful Black Swan
Tender Kisses Worth A Thousand Words
We lay in her now quiet bedroom. I hear the blades from the ceiling fan cutting the air.
The sweet sorority girl speaks in her sultry, south Charleston accent:
“I have a request.”
“Anything Boo.”
“The sun rises at 5:25 am. If you don’t mind, I want to kiss you as the sun comes up… It’s silly, never mind.”
“No, it’s the sweetest thing I have ever heard. I want to taste your sugary lips as the sun rises.”
“Wonderful. I know the perfect spot. I will set the alarm.”
It’s 3:14 am. No sooner than my eyes close, I’m awakened by Billy Ocean singing Caribbean Queen. I open my eyes to:
“Hey Kincaid,” she says, handing me a glass of OJ. I take a sip and place it on the end table.
I notice my clothes from last night at the foot of the bed. My sweetheart helps me with my shirt like a cute little housewife.
She is giddy with excitement. The clock now reads 5:15 am. Myesha dons a free-flowing sundress.
She takes my hand and picks up a bag of Sunbeam bread with only a few slices from the counter. I don’t ask.
