Mona, tremendous article. As an African American living in America, I'm so thankful for the sacrifice of my ancestors that allow me to live in the US.

I lived in Washington DC for 20 years. I totally get the poverty vs wealth in a single bound.

You can go on 14th St. NW, pick up some coke and a prostitute. Travel a few city blocks and be in Georgetown, home to some of the most expensive real estate in the entire nation.

America is an oxymoron. America is bi-polar. America is the best and the worst of us.

However, no other place on the planet represents the opportunity to be as great or as small as you choose to be.
