Is Her Love Worth The Pain?

A Poem

--

The first kiss on her lips a magnificent moment frozen in time. The last kiss on the cheek never to be erased from my mind.

I catch her lovingly staring at me, unable to look away. She refuses to be in the same room with me, unwilling to stay.

Her eyes roll when I take her to ecstasy in our bed. The rolling of her eyes disgusted by everything ever done or said.

The happiness she exudes when I present a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The sadness I feel when she is nowhere to be found, gone girl for hours.

Daydreaming walking on the beach holding her hand. Realizing it was a suffocating nightmare, slowly swallowing into the sand.

How can one appreciate pleasure without understanding pain? Bathing under the warm summer sun without being drenched by the freezing winter rain?

The feeling of emptiness when her love is all but gone. Never risking this hurt ever again, better to be left the hell alone.

Falling in love is God’s gift, the ultimate intimate pleasure. She is worth the gut-wrenching pain, her love I will forever treasure.

Final Thought

This poem was inspired by two inspiring poets. Thank you, Oli Chen and Willow Reed.
