Elizabeth, your assessment is spot on. We feel more empathy for an aging woman who hadn't been sexually satisfied more so than a white male.

Although Tom Hanks could pull it off, there would be an ick factor. White privilege has the average movie goer less likely to feel empathy towards those who live a life of numerous unfair advantages. Rather real or imagined.
