Dimes At The Playground
One never knows when or where love will find them. We take for granted that love will always be around the corner. The irony is I didn’t realize she was the one until decades after she had gone.
Come back to a time before pandemics and staying six feet away. Get up so close you can smell her tic-tacs. This is part one of a four-part series. Where else would you rather be than young and in love?
My lil homie Bubba and I make the trip to Dunbar Playground in nearby Forest City. It’s the place where all real ballers dwell on a late Sunday afternoon. Our chance to see firsthand the deal with Cornbread. A would-be basketball rival.
We land on what I can only describe as Black Heaven. I say that because any hood nigga living in Rutherford County North Carolina dies, his heaven would be a late summer afternoon at the Playground. Not just for the beers, buds, and basketball but for the babes.
I’m talking about every flavor of chocolate one could ever imagine in their wildest dreams. The playground lawns are filled with these dimes.
The best description pales in comparison to the real life, walking with a twist in her hips, speaking with sass from her lips…
