After the Party

As well as I felt the night before, waking up in my bed, I felt as if I had the flu, however; I had never missed a day of school because I was never this sick. Thank God it’s Saturday because this fine morning I would be too sick to attend. My stomach is churning. I smell bacon; usually my mom couldn’t fry enough to satisfy my hunger. Now I can’t imagine eating one strip, in fact the smell… I’m about to do something I hadn’t done since I was a baby but don’t remember. Throw up! I rush to the bathroom. This must be what it feels like to die. My head feels as though it’s going to explode off my shoulders. After I dispense the hot liquid from my tummy, I continue to throw up but instead of fluid it’s air. I’m surely dying because throwing up air feels worse than the liquid.

Tim, are you OK? My mom asks. Yes, I’m a little sick from the Cougar; I mean, food I ate after the game, I reply from the closed bathroom door. I’m gonna lay back down. I sleep for the better part of the afternoon; I awaken hungry. Feeling somewhat like my old self. There is yelling coming from the living room. He is only 15. How come he can stay out and I can’t? Cribbie says. He is in high school and he’s with his teammates. Mom replies. Plus, young lady, you are in Middle School. It’s not fair. Cribbie yells. I hear stomping and the slamming of her room door. I don’t dare go out yet, fearing I could be…
